This self-driving truck has no cabin room for driver (This is for real)

EINRIDE DRIVERLESS TRUCK
EINRIDE DRIVERLESS TRUCK

HIGHLIGHTS:-

  • Einride is going to hit the roads in 2021.
  • The truck is completely driver-less.
  • 2-variants, T-POD and T-LOG.

EINRIDE was founded in 2016, and from that year onwards Einride was releasing eye-catching prototypes of vehicles. They released a cabless pod in the year 2017, which has been used in partnership with German Logistics firm DB Schenker.

Self-driving cars were famous because of Tesla. The technology was something that no one expected to be launched this early. All thanks to Elon. But EINRIDE is also leaving its foot-prints in self-driving technology.

Their new truck has literally no cabin/green room for the driver. The truck will it-self go to the pick-up point and will take all the goods to the delivery point.

The truck is named as "T-POD", it also has another variant named as "T-LOG", we will discuss this later in the blog.

The T-POD is shorter than the average truck trailer, with 23 feet long. It weighs around 20 tons at full load, which is comparable to a Class 8 trucks.

The company also mentioned that the T-Pod can be controlled remotely by a Human or it can work autonoumusly with any Human Intervention.

The company aims to deliver a complete transport system between Gothenburg-Helsingborg by 2020. This will consist of 200 T-Pods and will have charging station between the route. The company said they have already filled 60% of the total number between this Route. It will have a capacity of up to 2,000,000 palletes per year.

Talking about the T-LOG, it is more kind of trailer with an off-road capability unline T-Pod. In terms of power the T-Log has more power than T-Pod. It can carry up to 16 tonnes of load behind it.

So, How exactly does it handle uneven, unmarked roads?

Einride says it uses Nvidia's self-driving software to achieve Level 4 (completely self-driving) driving.

The truck can also be operated remotely by a human which is 100s of miles away with the help of Phantom's Auto teleoperation Technology.
