Jeff Bezo's Blue Origin launched its 13th Shepard Rocket which has set a new reusability record. The Shepard NS-13 was launched to test key NASA Technology. The launch was delayed by two months due to some technical issues. The launch was performed on October 13th.
The new Shepard was reused for 7 consecutive times and became the first-ever rocket to be reused this many times. Elon Musk's SpaceX was leading before the Shepard was launched.
The launch was carried on October 13th, at 1:35 PM UTC (7:05 PM IST). The rocket will carry 12 payloads to space and back, Blue Origin Stated.
The latest mission will demonstrate NASA's Deorbit, Descend, and Landing Sensor including testing of precision landing technology.
The main highlight of the Shepard is it will carry the payload attached outside it rather than inside the capsule. This will help to find new ways of carrying the payload to the orbit.
The test will help the company to find how the sensors, computers, and algorithms would perform while landing on the moon. It will also be capable of landing autonomously within 100 meters of the landing point.
