India's latest earth observatory satellite launched successfully.
Today, ISRO was back in action. After the launch of Chandrayaan 2, the Sriharikota was once again back in the game. At 1512, ISRO launched the PSLV C49 rocket into the earth's atmosphere.
The rocket carried 10 satellites of different countries in which EOS-01 (an all-weather earth imaging satellite), earlier it was known as RISAT-2BR2. The launch was scheduled on 1502 but it was launched on 1512, as lighting and light rain showers was there which could damage the electronics of the rocket.
The interesting thing is that within 15 minutes of launch the EOS-01 satellite was into lower earth orbit, which was satellite's primary payload.
EOS-01 is the satellite which can be used in applications such as agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.
It also carried 9 other satellites of foreign countries which included:- R2 satellite for Lithuania, which is a technology demonstration, four Kleos (KS- 1A/1B/1C/1D) from Luxembourg for maritime application and four Lemur (Lemur 1/2/3/4) of USA used for multi-mission remote sensing application.
