The new bolder, tougher Defender is here. Land Rover announced the launch of the Defender on Thursday and bookings for it has already started.
It has 2 variants, the Defender 90 and Defender 110. 90 variant has 3-doors and 110 has 5-doors.
Land Rover Defender
It has been priced at Rs. 73.98 Lakh (Ex-Showroom) for the 90 variant and Rs 79.94 Lakh for the 110 variant. Delivery of 110 will begin immediately while delivery for the 90 will commence from Q1 of 2021.
For only 3 or 5 door options, but the customers will also be allowed to choose a longer wheelbase variant, i.e, in total 5 options to choose from.
The Defender was set to launch in June of 2020 but due to Covid-19 Pandemic Land Rover was forced to delay the launch. Since it was first introduced in India in the year 2009, the new defender has been introduced as a completely built unit (CBU).
Talking about the strength, Land Rover has built the new Defender on the D7X Platform, which is stiffer than any other chassis made by Land Rover.
Engine Specifications:-
The new Defender runs on a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which helps to develop 292 Hp and 400 Nm of torque, which is being mated with an 8-speed gearbox with the company's Terrain Response all-wheel-drive unit.
Off-Road Capabilities:-
The company says the new defender is the most powerful ever with a 900 kg of max payload and a massive wading depth of 900mm. It also got a Terrain Response 2 system and Air suspension. The approach angle is 38 degrees, the off-road break-over angle of 28 degrees (31 degrees in Defender 90), and the off-road departure angle of 40 degrees.
Interiors:-
The interior is equipped with the Pivi Pro infotainment system which will be updated over the air, a 12.3 touchscreen display, HUD, and much more. In terms of customizable Land Rover has already offered a lot but they also offer a 5, 6, or 7 seater options.
