October 10, one of the greatest days in Automotive history. SSC (Shelby Supercars) tested its Tuatara model and broke Bugatti Chiron Super Sport's record and became the fastest car to be alive in the world. It clocked a speed of 331 mph (508 kph) which is way more than the Chiron achieved.
SSC TUATARA
Nowadays talking to the air has become a passion of the Automotive maker. The first car to do so was Koenigsegg Jesko which achieved a speed of 278 mph (447kph). The Tuatara become the second car to enter the 300mph club after the Bugatti's Chiron prototype.
The run was performed on a long stretched road just outside Las Vegas where so many such records were made and broken. The SSC was driven by a professional racer named Oliver Webb. Oliver drove the car 2 times in the opposite direction, first, the car reached the speed of 301.07 mph, and second, it reached a lightning speed of 331.5 mph. The average was taken and the final result was 316mph.
The entire test was monitored by a special GPS and 15 satellite and two certified witnesses.
The Tuatara not only broke 1 record of the fastest car but also of the fastest flying mile and fastest flying kilometer car on a public road.
Talking about the engine, the Tuatara was made to run on a 5.9-liter V8 engine which was able to produce 1726 bhp. And interestingly this will be available to buy but only 100 units will be manufactured for which the company will cost you at $1.6 million.
