Audi eTron GT makes its debut in India for Rs. 1.80 Crore

The Audi e-tron GT has a power of 390 kW and accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in a superfast 4.1 seconds, while the 475 kW RS e-tron GT achieves the same feat in mere 3.3 seconds.

Audi has launched e-tron GT in India at ₹1.8 crore (ex-showroom, India). It is a four-door coupe sedan that joins the German brand's electric vehicle lineup in India. Along with the e-tron GT, Audi has also launched the high-performance RS e-tron GT coupe sedan in the country at ₹2.05 crore (ex-showroom, India). Both e-tron GT cars were globally revealed in February this year and became available for bookings earlier this month. The e-Tron GT and RS model are based on Porsche Taycan's platform (both Porsche and Audi are owned by Volkswagen Group, in case you forgot) and Audi has borrowed a considerable amount of technology from Porsche's first EV.

Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT come sporting a futuristic but aggressive design tenet. This is highlighted by the numerous creases on the body, scooped bonnet, and a chiselled front bumper. The single-frame grille is flanked by LED Matrix headlamps with LED DRLs while the split LED tail lights with arrow signature joined by an LED light strip lends to the e-tron GT a modern appeal.

Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT get a plethora of design elements aimed at improving aerodynamics. The air inlets in the lower section of the bumper guide the air to the sides of the coupe-style sedan and also cool the brakes. The controllable cool-air inlet behind large ribs below the headlights and behind openings in the corners of the grille that ensure active aerodynamics. Even the rear spoiler can electronically extend to two different positions, depending upon the speed. As opposed to the standard model, the RS e-tron GT comes with a carbon fibre roof to enhance performance.

The e-tron GT is a practical car in terms of space as well, measuring 4,990 mm in length and 1,960 mm in width. The electric car also has 405-litres of boot space and another 85-litres storage space under the bonnet. The EVs get features like a 10-inch infotainment system with MMI interface, a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit, automatic AC, four-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, heated ORVMs, wireless smartphone charger, Bang and Olufsen sound system, etc. Apart from front and side airbags, the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT also get traction control, parking assist with 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, electronic stability control, and more.

Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT are available with a choice between 83.7 kWh and 93.4 kWh battery packs along with two electric motors, one for each axle. The RS e-tron GT has 590 bhp with 830 Nm on tap and can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. This electric coupe sedan claims to offer a driving range between 401 km and 481 km per charge (WLTP). The standard e-tron GT, however, has 469 bhp with 630 Nm on tap and can go from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. This variant claims a WLTP driving range of 388 km - 500 km on a single charge. The e-tron GT range also gets adaptive air suspension, launch control, all-wheel steering, and quattro all-wheel-drive system with controlled rear differential lock (RS only).

The e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT come with an 11 kW AC portable charger that takes 9 hours 30 minutes to charge the e-tron GT cars from five per cent to 80 per cent. However, there's also a 22 kW charger that takes 5 hours and 15 minutes to do so. However, a 270 kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from five per cent to 80 per cent in just 22.5 minutes.
