F9 (also known as Fast & Furious 9) is a 2021 American action film directed by Justin Lin, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Casey. It is the sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017), the ninth main installment, and the tenth full-length film released overall in the Fast & Furious franchise. The first film since Fast & Furious 6 (2013) to be directed by Lin and the first since 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) not to be written by Chris Morgan, F9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron.
In Fast 9, we'll see everything from a mid-engine Hellcat-powered Dodge Charger to a giant Mercedes-Benz Unimog-based truck. The team scours sites such as Craigslist and eBay to supply classic cars such as the Chargers, and manufacturers will lend them cars such as a Noble M600 or Toyota Supra. These are some of the cars you'll see when the film is out this summer.
1. The Beast, Mid Engine Dodge Charger

Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is known for his affinity for Mopar, and throughout the series, we've seen him drive plenty of Dodge Chargers. McCarthy says that with each iteration of Dom's whips, they need to do something they haven't done—just as the films themselves have escalated over the years. Speedcore, a Wisconsin-based custom car shop, helped build this mid-engine Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V-8–powered 1968 Charger, and it cost over $1 million. Two cars were built with Hellcat engines, but the stunt cars are powered by LS3 crate motors with plastic molds of the Hellcat's supercharger on top.
2. The muscular Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

McCarthy calls this the Demon Charger. His team transplanted a Challenger SRT Hellcat powertrain into a 2016 Charger SRT Hellcat, and it even includes the six-speed manual transmission from the Chally that was never offered on the Charger. It's upgraded with a Magnaflow exhaust, tuned, and has an aftermarket pulley and injectors that help it muscle up over 800 horsepower. It also has the hood and wheels from the Challenger SRT Demon. "It's a car I always thought Dodge should build," McCarthy says, and we couldn't agree more. #SavetheManuals
3. The all-time favorite, Toyota Supra
"The Toyota Supra is part of the franchise," McCarthy says. In Fast 9, Han Lue (Sung Kang) returns and drives the A90 Supra, which has a color scheme reminiscent of the Mazda RX-7 he drives in the third film, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. And it's equipped with HRE wheels that McCarthy said were inspired by the Toyota Supra pace car for the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
4. The Ford Mustang
Dom's brother, Jakob Toretto (John Cena), is introduced in Fast 9, and Justin Lin, the director of the franchise, wanted him to drive a Ford Mustang GT equipped with some carbon-fiber body mods. We hate to spoil the realism, but McCarthy told us that during a downhill chase scene (pictured), the cars are Mustang bodies with Polaris RZR 1000 s underneath. There will also be flashback scenes that show what Jakob would have driven in the early days. "You get that rivalry going," McCarthy says. "You don't want him in another Dodge."

Speedcore has helped produce a few cars for the Fast and Furious franchise, including the mid-engine Charger and Plymouth Barracuda from Furious 7. The Charger Tantrum has bodywork completed in carbon fiber and HRE wheels, and under the hood is a 9.0-liter twin-turbocharged Mercury Racing V-8 QC4v crate engine that puts out 1650 horsepower.
6. Dominic's fav, the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T

It's obvious that one of the G.O.A.T.s of the Fast & Furious franchise had to make it in the film for the fifth time, and you can even buy Dom's original Charger as a Lego kit. However, with the next film in the series, McCarthy wants to make Dom's Charger even better. "There were some things about that car that always bothered me that my next variation of it will take care of," he says.
7. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is another Hellcat-powered vehicle that's featured in Fast 9. It costs $89,940 and is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 707 horsepower. In-Car and Driver testing, the Trackhawk launched to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds on its way to a 12.0-second quarter-mile at 115 mph.
8. Jeep Gladiator
This Jeep Gladiator, the brand's new mid-size pickup, is upgraded with massive off-road tires including roof-mounted spare, bead-lock-capable wheels, metal bumpers, a front-mounted winch, and a lifted suspension. That'll help it mob through the jungle for some epic chase scenes.
9. Jaguar XE SV Project 8
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the most track-capable car the British automaker has ever produced, and it only built 300 examples starting at $188,495. It makes a brief appearance in the film because McCarthy is quite simply just into it. It uses a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 that puts out 592 horsepower. It lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:18.36, making it the fastest production car in the mid-range segment.
10. Acura NSX

Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej Parker (Ludacris) both drive Acura's $150,000-plus twin-turbo V-6 hybrid supercar in the film. While testing, the 2017 NSX reached 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
11. Noble M600

Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen (Luke Evans) Shaw's mother drives the hand-built M600 supercar from British manufacturer Noble in Fast 9. It's a real example, loaned to the film by Noble, and is powered by a 650-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine supplied by Yamaha.
12. Apollo IE
The Apollo IE, or Intensa Emozione, which means intense emotion in Italian, is a tribute to the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR. It's powered by a high-revving naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V-12 engine, and only 10 were made.

McCarthy didn't have much involvement with this crazy Pontiac Fiero with rockets strapped on to the roof, so we'll have to wait to see the film next month to see what crazy stunt it has in store.
14. Armadillo

This behemoth is based on a Mercedes Unimog truck. It's 14 feet high and took engineers almost four months to build. Everything from the cab back was custom-built in London, and it's essentially an enormous battering ram on wheels.
15. Armoury Truck
The Armoury Truck is another custom-built truck that's practically a tank. “They’re cool, they’re very big, they’re not extremely fast, but they can do a lot of damage," McCarthy says. We're sure they'll plow through plenty of stuff in some serious chases during the film.
16. Nissan Skyline GT-R
In the second trailer, a blue R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R pulls up to what's being rebuilt of the Toretto house in Los Angeles. We also spotted a red Dodge Challenger, an orange Nissan 240Z, and a light blue Ford Fairlane parked out front.
