Sales in India | January to September 2020 | Full Report

 Since the sales of different cars have been great in India for companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, etc. But the Coronavirus Pandemic hit the sales very hard. Due to which Harley Davidson decided to shut its production unit in India.

The sales in January 2020 was good for Maruti Suzuki. They sold around 1,39,844 units of all cars combined. Comparing to last year there has been a growth of 0.3%. Hyundai was second with 42,002 units sold. The growth of Hyundai was down with -0.8%.

MARUTI SUZUKI SWIFT

In February, Maruti Suzuki again topped the sales list by selling 18,696 units of swift. Maruti Suzuki clinched all the top 4 positions by selling 18,235 units of Wagon R, 17,921 units of Alto, and 16,585 units of Baleno. Followed by Kia, which sold 14,024 units of Seltos.

In March, Maruti Nexa sold 11,406 units of Baleno and secured the first position followed by  10,829 units of Alto, 9151 units of Wagon R, and 8575 units of Swift.

Meanwhile, in April, India has been targeted by Coronavirus Pandemic and the Government announced a nationwide lockdown since March 25th. Due to which the sales of cars were slashed to 0.

The month of May brought a light of hope for Maruti Suzuki as they sold 13,700. units which were great enough than the previous month. Followed by Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, etc.

In June Maruti Suzuki sold around 51,274 units. Followed by Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, etc.

July month showed some signs of recovery and was one of the best months in the year 2020 as Maruti Suzuki sold 97,796 units with a +1.3% growth in YoY.

In August, Maruti Suzuki continues to lead from front hence sold 1.13,033 units (combined of all cars) witnessing a 21.3% of growth than last year the same month.  

Being the country's leading manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki once again dominated the sales chart with 22643 units being sold.
